About the fiber

The twisted abaca weft and silk warp are meticulously handwoven on a traditional loom. Abaca is a true champion of sustainability. Its cultivation improves the soil’s water retention capacity and helps prevent floods and landslides. Abaca waste is used as organic fertilizer for crops. Furthermore, there is no deforestation: the banana plant is not uprooted. The trunk is cut forty centimeters above the ground, and the plant regrows within two years. Trees grow naturally across the landscape and are not cultivated through intensive farming methods.

NATURAL ESSENCE WALLCOVERING 2

A new story emerges around hemp and abaca, one of light and pure beauty. Magnified by weaving techniques of rare dexterity, sometimes tinged with metallic sparkles or mixed with silk horsehair, the fibres are imbued with a Japanese inspired energy, evocative of precious tatami mats in natural shades of tobacco and the refinement of silent materials.
